Fairtex Training Center [Gym Review]

Walking through the main hall of the Fairtex training center, you’ll find yourself time traveling through Muay Thai history. Framed photos of Yodsanklai, Neungsiam, Jongsanan, and dozens more famous Fairtex fighters line the walls.

And, next to them, posters of the new generation: Saemapetch, Ferrari, and others. To little surprise, most prominently featured are the fight photos, hand wraps, and ONE Championship belts of Stamp Fairtex. It’s no secret that Fairtex has a rich history of influence in MuayThai, and you’ll feel its magnitude from your very first walk through the gym.

Remembering Golden Era Fighter: Phaiboon Fairtex

Monlit Sitphodaeng, former trainer at Fairtex, prepared for his drive upcountry to a Northerneastern (an area commonly referred to as “Isaan”) province called Chaiyaphum. Usually an active and funny person, he drove in solemn silence. The ride from Bangkok to Chaiyaphum was long, taking at least 5-7 hours, and this was his second time going there within a month. Last time, he went to visit his friend and former student who was in the hospital, sick with cancer. “When he sees me again, his former teacher, he will become strong again,” Monlit said hopefully. Unfortunately, cancer does not care if you or your loved ones wish for you to become better.

Buakaw vs Yodsanklai – Is it for real this time?

Fresh off a victory over the weekend, Yodsanklai may be facing fellow countryman Buakaw later this year. Kunlun Fight says this match-up is in the works and according to Muay Thai Authority, the purse is supposedly $1,000,000 for what many are calling the fight of the century. However, some fight fans are skeptical as there have been many talks over the past 8-10 years about this match-up as well as other dream fights. To add to the skepticism, the last known time Buakaw was known to have fought a Thai was over 10 years ago in 2006 vs Jomhod Kiatadisak. But there is always a chance of this happening for real this time, so hopefully Kunlun Fight does not disappoint everyone who has their hopes up!

ABOUT US

Muay Ying is the first platform to focus on fighters that don’t get the attention they deserve, namely women fighters. Founded in 2016, this site was born out of frustration when finding inclusive and high quality news about professional fighters.

In addition to news and fight updates, Muay Ying provides information on training in Thailand, advice on how to prepare and sustain yourself during your trip, among many other topics. If there’s a topic you’d like to read more about, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

Muay Ying also has chats with notable members in the Muay Thai community in Podcast form. You can find us on your favorite Podcast platform.

WHAT IS MUAY THAI?

มวยไทย
Thai boxing
The art of eight limbs

No matter what you call it, this sport has changed lives.

Driven by economical means in Thailand, children from poorer regions of the country start training and fighting to help support their families.

This sport with humble beginnings has grown exponentially all over the world. Although most non-Thais do not fight as an economical means, their passion for the sport has helped pave the way for Muay Thai to become profitable on the international scene.
